G-2 is owned by Mark and Anita Calderwood. Old# N8592A. Aircraft is on its way back to the states. It has been in Europe since the early '50s.

This Model 45 (XT-34) came to Europe in about 1954-55 when Beech was done with it and the military had started taking deliveries of the T-34s. The info that I give you is a combination of G-2's historical records that I have and talking to other people. Finding out any history of it before it left the states is real hard.

It was produced February 2, 1949. The main differences: The nose it is like the YT but has four Dzus fasteners instead of the 3 latches on the T-34/YT-34. The nose and cowl are identical to the early Bonanza with cowl flaps and normal exhaust (no augmenters). Another difference is the roll bar. The first ones used a standard Bonanza wing that was later beefed up and minor changes in light position on the production T-34. This airplane was registered Experimental as type certification was not carried out until the YT-34 series. Before it left the states Beech did do some mods that started with the YT's. The roll bar was removed (mounts are still there), augmenters installed, cowl flaps removed, and a passing light installed in the nose bowl. The picture that is in the "T-34 Mentor In Action" book is this airplane. [Ed: That picture is displayed below.]

It was operated in Switzerland for about a year registered as HB-EGM. Then in '56 it went to Austria where it was registered as OE-VAA and operated by the government until '84. Stored and then traded to a flying club in '89, reregistered as OE-CCW where it was happily flown by retired Austrian air force pilots till '96. Again she was retired and pushed off the airport in Graz, Austria. I acquired her from Siggi Angerer who knew she was a rare aircraft that didn't deserve to die so lonely. She is in good shape but is going directly to Neil Weaver at "Weaver Aircraft" in Carson City, NV for a total restoration to her former glory.

I have many boxes of info that I am still trying do translate.

Note the "flat nose".

It's genuine.

Do you have a patch for your T-34?
