Blackwell Aviation brokered the sale and had just performed an
extensive annual which included the AMOC. N4985 had been virtually
unflown for quite a few years prior to our purchasing her. A couple
of interesting antidotes: During our pre-purchase review of the
log's Cindy noticed that N4985 had been one of several T-34's she
had managed while aircraft manager at CAP Wing HQ in California
during the1980s. Then, after we got her home, a good friend was
making himself comfortable in the cockpit and pulled out the
pre-flight manual, which had the old N number N7604B on it, he
beamed and exclaimed " I've got about 350 to 400 hours in your
bird!" Apparently he had flown her in the Aero Club during the mid
60s while stationed at Vandenberg AFB, California. Later, he
produced a picture of himself hanging on her prop when he was a mere
twenty year old. Small world. |
