Making It Easier To Do Business
With the T-34 Association
In an effort to make it easier for
our members to send money to the T-34 Association, we now accept payment via PayPal.
Use of PayPal is optional -- you can still pay by check...or
for merchandise, by credit card. See
this page for details on
how to pay for merchandise by credit card.
We don't want to take credit cards
directly due to the level of sophistication that we would have
to add to our website to do so. Also, the last thing we want to
do is be responsible for dealing with your credit card
number. Therefore, we are going to leave that end of the
business (processing credit card payments and safely tracking
your credit card number) to the professionals at PayPal.
We will use PayPal for membership
dues, FAST dues, merchandise, and even donations.
The nice thing about PayPal: it
happens immediately. No check to write, no envelope to address,
no stamps used, no waiting for us to get the money, and no
processing of checks by us.
PayPal is optional, but to use it
you have to have a PayPal account. If you won't want to create a PayPal
account, you don't have to. You can still use a check to send
money to the T-34 Association.
How Does It Work?
It is as simple as this to send
money to the T-34 Association via PayPal:
You sign in to your PayPal account.
Go to the "Send Money" section.
Enter
PayPal@T-34.com in the "To"
field.
Enter how much you want to send.
Click on the button next to
"Services/Other" for dues or contributions or "Goods"
for merchandise from our store.

Click on "Continue".
On the next page, before you click on "Send Money" put something in the
"Subject" and "Message" field to let us
know what the money is for. For example, if you are sending $50
is it for one year of "hardcopy" membership or two years of
"electronic" membership.

The appropriate people will receive
an email that you made a payment and our staff will jump into
action to fulfill out end of the bargain.
Creating a PayPal Account
In case you are not familiar with
PayPal, here is a review of how to sign up for a PayPal account.
You create an account on PayPal
(click
here to go to the page on PayPal's website to do that -- it
will open in another window).
There are several types of PayPal
accounts. A "Personal" account is all you will probably need.
You give PayPal the usual
information: Name, address, phone number, email address, and you
create a password for your account.
After you create an account you
register your credit card or your bank account number with
PayPal. You may be wondering "Why would anyone use their bank
account as a source of funds for purchases you make with your
PayPal account?" The answer is that when you register a credit
card there are limitations. Whatever the limits are, they will
not get in the way of allowing you to the relatively small
amounts you will be sending to the T-34 Association.
(One little gotcha about PayPal if
you do choose to register your bank account with PayPal. Even if
you make your credit card the source of funds for a
transactions, the next time you use PayPal, your bank account
will be set as the source of funds. You cannot change the
default source of funds to your credit card.)
Extra Security
PayPal offers an extra layer of
protection for you PalPal account for an amazing low price ($5).
This extra layer of protection is called the PayPal Security
Key. When you login to PayPal, instead of just entering your
email address and password, you press a button on the Security
Key which generates a random series of six numbers and enter
that number on the PayPal login screen. That is, to login you
have to supply something you know (your password) and the number
from something you have (the Security Key). This is known as
"two factor" authentication. I highly recommend it.
Read about the PayPal Security Key
on
this page.
This is all my idea so if you have
any questions, send them my way. :-)
